Mission

Individual church members support a wide range of missions, charities and relief agencies as part of their regular giving.

​

In addition, we set aside a percentage of the income of the church each year and allocate it to a number of individuals and organisations with links to our churches.

 

Below you can find details of who we support - financially, in prayer, or through the direct involvement of church members.

David Atkinson, a former member of St Michael's, is the Director of Trafford Youth for Christ, reaching young people with the Gospel and working to develop a youth mentoring programme.

After 25 years of mission and development in East Africa Garry is continuing to work with CMS and has been seconded to Restore Cumbria to expand their Men in Sheds project here in Carlisle. The men’s shed runs alongside other Restore warehouse activities including recycling, and upcycling donations from a network of charity shops.

OMF is a global fellowship of Christians with a heart for East Asia. Chris and Sarah have served with OMF in Central Thailand for many years. Together with their three young daughters, they are currently in Belfast where Chris is the Ireland Area Rep for OMF.

Paul and Cathy Middleton

Cathy and Paul Middleton live in South Africa. Cathy is a Midwife with ASM Clinic, who provide primary health care in remote locations. Paul used to fly planes for Mercy Air but now flies the occasional charter plane.

We support one of the food banks in Carlisle, working in partnership with the parishes of Holy Trinity, Saint Barnabas and Saint Luke's to support people in the Carlisle area through voluntary donations.

Langham Partnership is a global fellowship working in pursuit of the vision God entrusted to its founder, John Stott, to strengthen the growth of the church in maturity and Christlikeness through raising the standards of biblical preaching and teaching. A number of Langham staff are based in Carlisle and some worship at St Michael's church.

Mothers’ Union has members in 84 countries across the world. These members seek to serve people in their communities through outreach projects and various programmes. They support families in need, equip communities with life-changing skills, empower women and combat gender-based violence.

Northern Inter-Schools Christian Union (NISCU) exists to provide children and young people with knowledge and understanding of the Christian faith, working in schools across the North West of England through local volunteer support groups and employed schools workers.

Operation Mobilisation (OM) works in every region of the world, to motivate and equip Christians to share God’s love, and to strengthen and plant churches especially in areas where Christ is least known. The International Office is in Carlisle.

We support Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship (UCCF) Relay Workers. Relay is a fantastic year of discipleship and training for graduates who love working with CUs. Relay provides graduates with great opportunities to be directly involved in gospel ministry among students, whilst also receiving excellent biblical teaching and training throughout the year.

MAF is a Christian mission organisation that uses planes to overcome aid barriers. Their pilots and personnel deliver relief workers, doctors, pastors, school books, food, medicines – everything that can only be safely and speedily transported by air.
